First let me explain...I think much of my euphoria for this hotel was that I spent the entire time thinking I was staying there for half of what I really was! Chalk that up to not paying proper attention to my online booking experience! However even though I was paying a few hundred dollars a night...this hotel made me really happy! Is it the St. Regis, Ritz or Hyatt? No. Is it Sky, Aspen Alps, Jerome? No. Its the new-ish Limelight (Aspen Ski Corp recently bought/redid it) which is low key, informal, true to its folkish 50/60's roots with a young staff who seem to enjoy life. Lots of Aussies (of course) a few youngsters in from Ca. Whoever is hiring/setting tone is doing a great job. One young man I met was from NY, Columbia grad, had worked at the UN, etc. super educated/smart enough to know that time is not a limitless entity and we all have to make the most of it while we can! Rooms warm, spacious, outfitted with a Kuerig, fridge, sink, etc. Ours had view of Ajax and the jacuzzis (2) and pool.Small fitness center. Lobby is spacious, informal, casual. Nice large gas fireplace. Entertainment most nights. Some shared tables, easy to meet folks from all over the world. Great cont breakfast included. Can you say smoked salmon? Glazed donuts worthy of Krispy Kreme to sliced meat/cheese - Euros and Americans alike can co-exist. Just opened a pizza oven/salads -that's it for dinner for now. Cheap and filling! Friendly ski concierge/overnight gear . Hotel shuttle. Close to free city ski shuttles! ABC at frt desk is a wealth of info. Old album covers from the original Limelight folk group with titles like 'love on the picket line'. Does it get any better than that?

My husband and I stayed five nights, over MLK weekend. Our room was sunny, with a balcony looking over the Wagner Park. There was no fridge in the room but we used the balcony. The room was good with a very large closet, which worked well as we had skis clothes as well as wedding-festivities clothes. Plenty of drawer space too. Great location! Every day, we walked across the park to get to the rental ski place where our skis, boots, poles and helmets were stored, at the foot of the Gondola. Or else, we would walk on the pedestrian ways and look at stores. The breakfast allowed us to stock up on energy and have a light and late lunch and take maximum advantage of the good snow. After skiing, we soaked in the hot tub outside: very relaxing! I loved the room downstairs with its wrap-around windows and fireplace blazing; despite its size, it was cozy. We only went to one cheese and wine reception because of other commitments but it was filling and friendly. The staff was very helpful and friendly: they were never in a hurry. This was a special place. Very different from a big impersonal hotel.

This is a fine hotel in many respects. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and large bathrooms. The breakfast each morning is plentiful and inviting; the wine and cheese social each evening is pleasant. The jacuzzis and pool are very nice. The staff is most friendly and helpful...from the front desk to the ski service personnel. We will definitely stay here again!

The new Limelight is really nice! Thier nightly rates are very reasonable. The staff is very friendy and helpful. Better than those high end hotels! The rooms are nice at half the price! One of the last family owned hotels in Aspen!!!! Stay where they truely appriciate your business and you will support the town! The location is perfect! You can shop around town during the day and go out at night all with out a car or a need for the bus. GREAT HOTEL! Cant wait to return!!!!

The hotel was nice and comfortable. Employees were friendly. The room was spacious, marble countertop in the bathroom, and the bed was a king size and comfortable with a small window. There was also nice continental breakfast in the morning. The pool was closed probably because it was snowing outside. It wasn't the best hotel I have stayed in or very luxurious, but comfortable, modern and newer appearance than other hotels, clean, and affordable for the price in downtown Aspen.
