After having a horrible experiance at another hotel, this one made our trip. We were greeted warmly, given a tour, helped to our room, and what a room. We loved our trip to this place, the only thing that my husband and I would critique is some of the staff such as in the bar area need to pay a little more attention to the customers not only looking to see what they can help with but also with the bills. My husband ordered two beers and the young man tried to charge four, when we needed new drinks he was busy talking with other staff members. This did not happen often but if I was to be honest it was a little irritating. Overall we found our experience here as top rate. Thank you for a wonderful trip

Just returned from Curacao and stayed at the Lodge for a week. This place is so peaceful, and beautiful. The grounds are immaculate, the water is beautiful, and the staff are focused on meeting your needs. The onsite dive shop is excellent and very professional, and dive sites are fairly close; several are right next to the lodge. I loved our room (ocean front suite) but got to see all the different rooms and they all very nice and have their own pluses. Except for the garden studio, they all have mini kitchens, which is very handy. The garden studio only has a mini-fridge. The food was good, I liked everything I tried but would suggest trying different restaurants around- you'll need a car for that. We did visit the sister property in Wilemstad but liked the Lodge so much more. There are minor complaints: the breakfast buffet was just so-so, but breakfast from the menu was so much better, yet pricey. The clothes dryer was not working and the internet wasn't working in the rooms. But these things happen and management was doing what they could- this is a small island with limited resources. I LOVED this place and plan to go back to Curacao, and when I do, I'll stay at the Kura Hulanda Lodge.

Benita Luke Tahoe City, CA Re: Lodge Kura Hulanda Travel Date: June 2010 Curacao This was one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed at and for a very affordable price. It is small enough to feel like you are not staying in one of the large hotel franchises and large enough to have all the advantages of anything a large hotel has to offer. It is absolutely beautiful and definitely away from all the hustle bustle. We got the most incredible care while enjoying our stay. The staff even addressed us by our name and shared underwater photos that we had taken. The grounds are well maintained including very artful sculptures, huge thatched roof library, private lounging areas, several dining areas and flowers everywhere. We were very impressed with the diving outfit "Ocean Encounters West" which was located right at hotel's beach. The restaurant is not gourmet food but typical island food with great service. The prices are also very average but the dining atmosphere is elegant with a casual outdoor flair all under thatched roofs (try the Ostrich, yum-mm) We looked at the other restaurants close by but I would only suggest going to them if you just need a change as the atmosphere at the hotel is much nicer. I would like to suggest just going for the ocean front suites. They were beautiful and very spacious with sliding doors that open to your own private two tiered patios facing the ocean including a fully equip kitchen that you could tuck away when you were finished. We selected this hotel also because it was close to Watamula and Mushroom Forest dive spots in addition to being close to some beautiful parks. We also went to visit the other hotels in this area and nothing even came close to how nice this hotel was. Not even close! Some of them were OK but had terrible beaches. The beach here was beautiful and quite with that uncrowded feel. This is the first time I ever wrote a review but was so impressed with this hotel that I wanted to share it with everyone, especially fellow divers. This is not a "machine" hotel or dive outfit as you will find some other hotels. Enjoy!

Our arrival preceded a wedding that I was asked to perform by six days. Our daughter and I arrived early to saturate ourselves in the excellent scuba diving of Curacau. My wife joined us a couple days later. Our ocean front room was spacious and exceeded all our expectations. We chose the “room plus breakfast option.” It was a great choice for us since we had other luncheon options. The resort dinners and their presentations were worthy of the pictures and descriptions my daughter took. Ocean Encounters West, the on-site dive center, could not have been better. I am a dive instructor and have seen my share of outstanding scuba destination websites only to be disappointed in one or more aspects of the dive operation. This experience ranked highest scores in every category as far as I was concerned. The staff in the restaurants, resort, and scuba store has been well trained and were there to handle every situation that needed attention. If you are looking for a very quiet and restful vacation with some of the world’s best diving, this is your place. If you want to visit the UNESCO Heritage site of Willemstad, it is at least a one hour trip from the resort. I am not one to enjoy the trappings of cruise ship orientated jewelry, T-shirt shops and cheap one-visit restaurants. But a must-see is one of the oldest Jewish synagogues in the Western hemisphere which is located in downtown Willemstad. The time in the main sanctuary with sand between my toes I was reminded of several Hebrew scripture stories involving ‘sand.’ Other than the museum of the main Kura Kulunda Hotel and the synagogue, I felt my time was better spent underwater and relaxing at the Resort in Westpunt.
