We arrived from Europe needing a place to stay for a while. Overjoyed to find the Lord Stanley Hotel which is truly right on Stanley Park and the "miles long" Vancouver Seawall which means incredible walks in all and various directions. Incredible views of sea, mountains, park! Located in a safe neighbourhood one block from restaurant and shopping packed Denman Street and the international shopping of Robson. Downtown is an enjoyable walk and there are numerous movie theatres and cultural venues quite nearby. In summer the famous English Bay and several other locations in nearby Stanley Park are available for both salt and freah water swimming and swimming is available all year in the Vancouver Aquatic Center. The Lord Stanley itself is a fairly new well maintained modern building with an impeccable location. An all suite hotel, the public spaces and suites are particularly well designed and furnished in good taste and are suitable for living with a full kitchen and laundry. Rooms are air conditioned. A good quality double sofa bed was available in our suite which increases the occupancy comfortably to four and allowed our grandchildren to do overnights. In the bathroom is a full deep bathtub with shower rather than only a shower which we find is becoming more common in quality hotels. The staff are very polite, helpful and kind professionals. Included breakfast is adequate & limited. In-building parking is available, safe and quite secure behind not one but two electronic card operated security doors. Hotel rates in Vancouver are quite high but the Lord Stanley, across the street from the iconic top quality Bayshore, is reasonably priced in the Vancouver market offering attributes simply not available elsewhere in the city. Location, location, location and good value. We ended up staying four months!!!

I did my due diligence and read the reviews on various sites about the hotel, and everything published helped set my expectations. The location was amazing - relatively quiet residential neighborhood and you are a block from Denman with a terrific selection of affordable restaurants. Like other people have commented, it is more an extended stay hotel, so don't expect all the frills when it comes to service. Most of the staff were however very polite and helpful. There just weren't a lot of service personnel. We had the ""deluxe"" suite which offers a very nice view of Coal Harbour. The downside is it faces Georgia Street, which is a busy street. Also, there is no central A/C in the rooms, so on a warm summer day, our bedroom was warm until about midnight. We didn't want to open the windows because of the traffic noise. The upside of a suite facing Georgia is because of the noise, instead of a balcony, we have a solarium, which is a great place for kids to hang out. It seems a little safer than a balcony if we were to leave them there unsupervised. The suites are very compact so any additional space came in handy. I think I would stay there again on some cooler Vancouver nights, or if I plan to sightsee a lot and spend less time in the room.
