The hotel is beautiful. The rooms were lovely. The staff was pleasant. That was the good part. We were given coupons for a free glass of wine in the lounge and decided to grab an appetizer as well. The lounge was way too busy for the amount of staff working. We ordered a cheese plate and calamari. We were less than impressed (the calamari plate was over half fried ginger). Obviously, we decided to try somewhere else for dinner. After trekking through town for almost an hour we were turned away from every place we tried (we now know to make reservations ahead of time) and were forced back to the Marc. Dinner was better than appetizers, although average at best (and overpriced). And our friend was very disappointed with the vegetarian options. Service in the restaurant was also better than in the lounge. The hotel is gorgeous. I would definitely stay there again. Just skip the lounge and restaurant and eat at one of the other restaurants in town - just make sure to get reservations in advance!

My wife and I booked one of the historic 2 room luxury suites on the 7th floor for the weekend, and were very pleased with our choice. The living room was spacious and the furniture was very comfortable...and there was even a wet-bar. The view of the Blue Mountains was spectacular, and the overview of the city was nice too. The bedroom was much larger than I expected, and the bed was very comfortable...and the linens were as soft as a cloud. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, a separate bathtub, and a beautiful period looking pedestal sink. And as a wonderful bonus...there is a free hot and hearty breakfast served daily to Hotel guests...fruit, pasteries, hot or cold cereals, hashbrowns, bacon to die for, sausage, and scrambled eggs. The check-in process was very quick and enjoyable, and the staff made our stay very enjoyable...the Hotel has a world class restaurant too...check out my post at their restaurant site...we had a fabulous meal, and will go back again!

We had high expectations as we had heard this hotel was recently remodeled. The front desk person was rude to us. The room itself was very nice but the bed left a lot to be desired. The sheets were so scratchy my son had to sleep on top of the bedspread. For the price we expected top quality bedding, double sheeted blankets, a pen in the room and the television to work. When asked at check-out how our stay was, my husband was honest and the desk clerk wouldn't even speak to him.
