The hotel was ok for the money, I suppose. The only real issue I had were the bathrooms. I'm very particular about the cleanliness of bathrooms and maybe it was because the hotel was so old that the bathroom was in poor shape. I probably wouldn't stay there again just because of that. The staff was ok as well....not really helpful. The pool was very nice.

My husband and I stayed here one night on our way to Key West. The room was small, pretty clean and had what we needed, even had a fridge. We stayed in a room with 2 double beds because that was all that was available, will definitely request a king bed next time. From the postings I read, I requested and received a room in the middle building away from the bars and we didn't hear a thing once in the room and the a/c on. The "balcony" is also the walkway to all the rooms but on the corners of the buildings they put a couple of chairs so we enjoyed relaxing and taking in the view of the boats in the canal until someone checked into the corner room so we decided it was time for dinner and drinks at Coconuts (on the property). As luck would have it, it was happy hour and taco night. For every drink you bought you received a ticket for a free taco, they were good and hot. After dinner and drinks we changed and enjoyed soaking in the hot tub by the pool which wasn' t very hot but we still enjoyed it. The pool area seemed nice but we didn't use the pool and only saw it in the dark. A continental breakfast was included with cold cereal, rolls, frozen waffles, coffee and juice. There were dive and fishing charters within walking distance. The room we stayed in was not diver friendly as there was no place to hang your wet stuff. Overall this hotel was OK. If the price was right we would stay here again on our way to the lower keys.

This hotel is ok if you are just staying one night like we did. If you are looking to stay any longer, I suggest you don't. The room is older and is in need of updates. The shutters would barely open and the elevator hardly worked unless you beat on it. The staff is friendly, but that is about all. Please don't bother with the restaurant Coconuts, the food is lousy and the drinks are waaaaaaay too strong with no good taste about them. My husband liked Sharkey's Pub, the music was good. All in all for a trip to the Keys...spend a little extra money, be comfortable and happy, and forgo Marina Del Mar.

Went with husband and 6 teenage boys (spring break) 2 of my own. Hotel location and amenities were great. Pool was heated at night which made for perfect swim in the cool evening. Snorkeling and party fishing boats right in marina. A park was within walking distance with basketball courts, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, etc. Family Dollar store nearby. Boys bought $6 basketball and played everyday. Coconuts restaurant has slow service and overpriced drinks, $9 for a margarita in a 10 oz plastic cup. Live band was good. Sharkeys restaurant was the best. Great burgers and Daquiri's and live band out on small quaint deck. Room was nice and big and clean with the exception of the floors. You couldn't walk barefoot in the room or your feet would be black. Stove and microwave didn't work right, but were adequate. For the price, would definitely stay again. Continental breakfast was good, but needs to have fruit.
