Customer service and hotel amenities were nice. We arrived too early to check in but they were nice enough to store our luggage in a secure room. The location is great, close to the streetcar, Powells Books, Celler Wine. At night we felt safe to walk around. The room was a nice size and I really liked the walk in closet and thhe little kitchen and they supplied utensils and plates. Yes, the hotel is old but it didn't bother us. The walls do seem a little thin and the first night we noticed a bit of a smell but then it either went away or we got use to it. Only down side was that the shower's water pressure was low. The breakfast was good, they provide you with various options. Overall, I THINK I would stay there again, but it would depend on other hotel locations, prices and amenities.

The Mark Spencer is in a terrific location (downright dangerous if you're addicted to Powell's Books!) -- Pearl District & Nob Hill offerings are within an easy walk and public trans is readily accessible for other parts of Portland. Unfortunately, the hotel is a bit run-down and sorely needs an update. Overused carpeting (read: smelly) in hallways, mediocre breakfast offerings (but at least it's offered), room/bed just okay, check-in service definitely sub-par (bordering on incompetent). Will definitely return to Portland and the Pearl/Nob Hill, but not this hotel.

The Hotel was more than we had expected. Breakfast , tea, and wine tastings were all included with our room rate. The staff there was also amazing as they were so helpful and were willing to take the tie with directions and finding places to eat and things to do. Will stay there again the next time am in town.

Very pleased with this hotel. The room was large and had a mini kitchen making it perfect for long term stays. The hotel location was very convenient for the Met transport and close to Powell Books and Voodoo Donuts. Would definitely stay here again.
