Stayed at the Massena Nice for five nights and enjoyed it very much. The desk staff was always helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and everything worked just fine. Hotel has a very good location - easy walk to Old Nice, beaches, buses, or shopping and restaurants. Thank you, Massena !

Bad Hotel-don't stay here

I stayed there only 1 nite. The evening clerk which was a taller female was rude and not helpful. We were not familar with the city and asked several questions. You can tell she was getting upset with our questions. Our air/conditioner did not work. We called and the same woman told us that a person was coming up to check on it. We waited and no one came up. We called the woman again, she was very rude over the phone. The room was in bad condition. You can see patched holes in the walls. The shower is small. But that wasn't the problem. There is a sink a few inches from the shower door. I weigh approximately 200 pounds and barely fit between the door and the sink to get into the shower. If you weigh more than that, you won't fit in. By the way they never got the air conditioner working and told us nothing could be done until the morning. We sweated the whole night and could not sleep. They didn't even try to give us any type of credit for this.

Hard to beat this location in central Nice. 5 mins walk to Promenade, Cours, Vielle Ville, bus station. Galeries Lafayette and the tram stop are even closer. Hotel has a stylish entrance and bar, rooms are comfortable and - a big plus for the city centre - quiet! Knowledgeable and efficient staff with excellent English. Seeking a restaurant within a few yards, we got from the staff two excellent recommendations we would not have found by exploring (due to concealed entrances): Flo (traditional French, an experience in itself) and Maison de Marie. But skip the pricey breakfasts, there's a host of stores right close by. And the front desk had glitches - don't rely on the wake-up call.
