Soiled linens, Hair in the sink and tub. Went through several rooms and could not find one without dirt or hair in the bathroom or more soiled linens. Finally, I gave up and took a room without soiled linens and just cleaned the bathroom myself. Internet did not work. I asked for a refund so I could go somewhere else, they wouldn't give me one until finally I demanded it of the owner, I had a fax sent there from my office and I have a confirmation of its reciept, but when I got there, they could not find it.

Initially we were pleased with the Microtel in Athens, GA. It has up to date furnishings, and appears to be a spacious well maintained no frills budget hotel. However on further inspection it is obvious that the hotel's housekeeping staff-- at least the ones who handled our room--do an extremely superficial job. There is an in-room coffee maker, but no in room coffee or sugar, etc. The towels had been replaced and the trash cans emptied and the little triangular folds had been made on the end of the toilet paper. But the room hadn't been vaccuumed. There was a straw left behind by a previous guest in the middle of the floor where it would be hard to miss. The bed sheets inside seemed to have been changed but the bed spreads had small hairs and crumbs on them and the piece de resistance: we found a used syringe on the floor next to the heater. This last detail made me feel uncomfortable throughout my stay.

Stayed there 9 nights in September 2009. Furniture so dirty and stained I wouldn't sit on it without a sheet, broken drawers, door handles, front door didn't shut completely, room cleaning consisted of dropping clean towels. beds not made, no vacuuming. piece of candy in hall the day I checked in and still there 9 days later. I travel a lot on business and this was the absolute worst, hands down. All I ask for is a clean, functioning hotel. This hotel ISN'T.

Hotel was nice, very basic but nice. The bed was very comfortable, and sheets and towels clean. The back wall behind the beds was nothing but mirrors, which was different but interesing (as a woman it came in handy when getting ready). The padded ledge that ran along the window was nice for just sitting and looking out. The lady at the front desk was not very friendly, but that wasn't a big deal. TV and appliances all worked fine, not flat-screen as in the picture, but worked great nonetheless. Everything was very clean, and like I said very basic, so nothing fancy, but for the price and having a place to stay it served its' purpose and I would definitely stay again!

Decided upon the hotel due to price and reviews. Expected generic room with basic amenities due to low price. Nice lady at front desk (Terri) checked me in and charged my card prior to stay--my mistake because I should have checked room before signing. Room was not even worth cheap price and below generic in quality: hair on bathroom floor, tub discolored, coffee stains on desk, TV covered with dust, bed was squeaky, window bench upholstery was stained, and mircrowave beeped every time I turned light on because of where it was plugged. Topping all that off, when I sat in recliner (to call other hotels for availability), I could feel the springs in the seat. When I stopped at the front desk to return my key, X apologized but could not authorize a refund. She asked me to return the next day to speak with the manager, X. So had to go out of my way to return to the hotel to ask for a refund, and he would not grant me one saying that the owner would be in touch with me. He acknowleged the cosmetic needs in the room but was short and seemed disinterested. This was 2/27/09, and I am still waiting on a follow-up call. The extra $30 another hotel cost was well worth the trouble to avoid this dive.
