Although an older hotel, it is a great location for the Natural Bridge. We liked the view and the very friendly staff. We did not dine in the restarurant but enjoyed the bar area which was not crowded at the height of the season. Very nice room with great view of the mountains (paid extra). Staff was very friendly. Wonderful family hotel. Very clean. Can walk to the attractions. Easy to get to. Parking was a little tight. Beware the coffee in the morning - a little harsh for our tastes

If what you are looking for is an old fashioned hotel experience next to one of the most beautiful natural sites in Virginia - this is your hotel. If you want a new hotel, like the kind you can find in any any city in any state do not come. You won't find movies in your room or hot tubs. But if you want to pretend it's 1960 , this is your place. We had a restful, quiet night and woke up the next morning, walked under the road and went to natural bridge.

The beds were in bad shape. Mattresses were very uncomfortable and I was unable to sleep. The carpet was worn out and the bathroom was not very clean. There was a build-up of dust and debris behind the toilet. The tv was very small but it did have a flat screen. I booked a room for 2 nights and left after the first night because of this. I told the fron desk person about the bed issue but the person did not care and did not offer anything to rectify the problem. She just said that she'll notify house keeping. An apology was not offered. The overall character of the hotel was quaint and not updated in decades. It feels tired. Not many amenities offered. It had internet connection available but the LAN outlet was by the bed instead of the desk. Wireless worked well in the Lobby. The window to the 'mountain view' room was small. The view was difficult to see. You may consider options in nearby Lexington.

The room was terrible. The mattress on the beds were old and worn out. It's unbelievable to me that a hotel would skimp on the one amenity that fulfills their purpose... a bed to sleep in. Even the sheets and blankets were old. The sheets were so old they would not even stay on the bed and were 'pilling'. The blanket looked like it was 50 years old and was too small for the bed. The AC was very loud and you can barely hear the tv over top of it. I booked 2 nights and canceled the second night. I will probably need to see a Chiropractor after this visit. The hotel appearance will send youk in time... way back. It's old and everything about the place is old. It would be great setting for a horror movie thought such as the shining. I feel about 20 years older now too with my lower back hurting from a bad bed. As soon as the kids are awake I'm out of here and will never come back.

This hotel is older but very nice and clean. Rooms were well appointed, the bath was a bit tight, but all in all it was someplace I would come back to. We arrived on a Friday evening about 6:00, checked in and saw a their really nice restaurant which was great as we were very hungry. Well, we were told that on Friday nights they have a seafood buffet and it is by reservations only. The best they could do is to get us a table at maybe, maybe, 9:00 that evening. She said she would give us the names of restaurants in town (far away) So off to our room, tThere was a button on the phone for room service, which was busy for two hours as well as the front desk until I gave up. so instead we had cheese puffs and peanuts for dinner. Not happy at all. It would be nice if when making a reservation at this hotel that they would advise you about the dinning requirements ahead of time so that you could make a reservation and not sit in your room eating nuts.
