I agree with the previous reviews. The building that we actually stayed in was not the one pictured, it was a seperate building that was no better than a low grade hotel anywhere. The hotel's ammenities were not available for 2 of my 3 days because they had booked weddings that went on all day. We could not use the bar, pool table, or restaurant. Not to mention the noise from these weddings. The door locks did not work. The one pool (they filled in the other one, so there is no indoor pool), was full of bugs. The new girl at the desk also accidently over authorized my card for $*, which put a hold on my card for 5 days! The only good thing that I can say, is that the location was great, it is right accross the street from the beach. However, there are many hotels in the same location, so I would suggest trying a different one.

Ahh, the sound of seagulls upon awakening…you know you’re either at the seashore or in a dump. In our case, the Oceanview Inn and Resort was both. Upon our arrival at the inn, we were informed that we were receiving an “upgrade” to a better room. I’d hate to see the original. After paying $*, and expecting luxurious accommodations as shown on their website, we stayed in a room which was thoroughly substandard. The first thing we noticed upon entering was the stale odor and lack of vacuuming of the carpet. Dust was plentiful, both on and behind the furniture. The locks on both the entry door and the door to the adjoining room were broken…one hanging on by one screw, the other even missing the screw. We propped chairs against each door at night to ensure our safety. Speaking of safety, there was no sprinkler system; which must explain why we had to sign a separate no-smoking agreement. To air out the room, I attempted to open the window, which was also broken. Needless to say, I couldn’t return it to a closed and locked position. The beds were uncomfortable and quite noisy, with pillows that would put granite to shame. While we’re on the subject of things being noisy, one might mention that the walls are paper-thin…don’t plan on privacy here. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the $* we spent on dinner at the inn, for a meal we couldn’t eat. It was difficult to understand how food could be cold and overcooked at the same time. The Oceanview Inn has tremendous potential, with its fabulous location on the water and the beauty of its main buildings. The owners need to understand that travelers who pay such a high price expect a little pampering and luxury. I’ve stayed in many hotels, both inexpensive and costly. Never have I seen one that offered so little to its guests. The only redeeming factor was the gorgeous seascape, with that lovely sound of seagulls in the background.
