We chose the Red Lion as we had imagined they would all have similar standards. Wrong. Our first impression as we drove up to the establishment was that it was located RIGHT OFF the freeway. This is a classic 70's motor hotel. No renovations that I could see. The first room that we were offered was really stinky. Smelled like old pepperoni and cleaning products. We immediately went back to reception and complained. Without batting an eye they offered us a room 2 doors down which, they said, people had better luck with ! Marginally better, but on a 101 degree day, the old air conditioner had not been keeping up and the room was sweltering. At this point we asked to be transfered out of that location to their other hotel in Coos Bay, but because we had booked on travel website, they said we would have to contact the travel agency ...which I tried, but could not get through. Room choice 3 was offered and at this point, as it was not smelly and cooler, we were too hot and tired to do any more room hopping or arguing. Bottom line, never again for the Red Lion, and never again for Travelocity. We only stayed one night after we had paid for 3. No bargain.

Doug, who was working at the front desk when we arrived, accommodated our many requests...a larger room, extra chairs, and more, all pleasantly and with a smile. The next morning we were guests at the complimentary breakfast. What a treat! Todd, the chef, created a very gracious atmosphere, good fresh food, variety, and best of all, he checked in with all the tables to make sure everything was to our liking. I noticed that he remembered other guests who were there for more than one day. The morning front desk staff was also very friendly. They made us feel so welcome that we are sure to return.

This is the furthest from a 3 star hotel that I've ever seen. Did a online price deal for a 3 star thinking I would get the hilton or the valley river inn. Nope, got the dump of a motor inn. Crappy rooms, average restaurant, location bad. Really, don't go.

From the outside, this hotel looks run-down and scary. The family was pleased with the location, so I gave it a chance ... and we were pleasantly surprised by a very large, tastefully decorated and updated room. Queen beds were very comfortable; large bathroom with spa-grade toiletries was a treat.
Front desk service was below average. When checking in, I asked if there were a better rate and the manager was almost rude in reply. He also would not give us any information on local restaurants other than to recommend their on-site facility (we looked at the menu -- not much variety and overpriced).
I might stay again ... but I'd rather not.
