We stayed here for a week long family vacation and had absolutely no problems. Requested a room on the western side and had a wonderful water view. Housekeeping did a wonderful job every day. One of the best features was location! A few blocks from shopping, food (would recommend Specialty's Cafe across the street for breakfast), buses, monorail, and Pike Place. Great place to stay while your in Seattle.

Would Not Stay Again
07/15/2010Location was excellent, however parking was very expensive, and the cleanliness of the room left a bit to be desired. needs updating.

I would give this hotel a 4-star except for one serious problem for me. I use the parking garage and it has NO security. I have seen the aftermath of two break-ins, so I have to wonder how often this takes place. It is not a problem during the day, but I don't feel comfortable going to my car in late evening (and I am male, mid-40's, athletic). Otherwise, this hotel has spacious, attractive rooms, a very central location, small but modern gym. The food is better than OK, but I don't eat in hotels very often so this is not a factor for me. But why no security camera in the garage?

the red lion stood out to me for several reasons. free internet access, rooftop terrace restaurant and above all else LOCATION! the frustrating: i noticed online it said u must show the credit card you used to book the hotel when you checked in. this was a problem because my boyfriend paid for the room on his card, yet i would be the one checking into the hotel first. so i called the hotel asked if it'd be a problem i didn't have a cc at check in. was told it absolutely would't be problem since we already paid for the room online, there's no reason to give card at check in. i also requested a microwave in our room. i was promised our room would have a micro. when arrived to check in the lady asked for my cc. i explained i'd called ahead and was told i didn't need one but she demanded i either give her my card, or pay her $*in cash! after a frustrating discussion i eventually gave my debit card and was told every day a $* charge would be placed on my card and that normally it was refunded but if it wasn't i had to hash it out with my bank and they didn't get involved in refunds! my room key didn't work and no micro was in the room. had to get room key replaced, call to ask where micro was and take boyfriend's cc down to front desk when he arrived to prevent my card being charged, but was told HIS cc would be charged too! mailed postcards at front desk that NEVER arrived to friends! that was the worst part. can't go back to seattle to mail postcards again! overall lovely hotel, great location but some drawbacks.

The Red Lion is extremely well located to just about everything and everything is within walking distance. We walked to Pike Place, the Aquarium, the Underground tour and the Harbor Cruise. We rented a car and took advantage of the overnight parking. Before we got to Seattle we thought the parking was completely over priced BUT it's only when you get to Seattle and see how hard it is to find parking and how expensive it is do you realise that $30 per day for self parking is a very good deal. We could have spent the week with no rental car but we would have missed out on driving to Mt St Helens and up to the Boeing factory in Everett. The staff are friendly, the rooms are spacious (5 in our family) and clean and the hotel is very quiet. No noise from other rooms. I loved this hotel and would stay there again
