This is a serious concern for travelers considering a stay in Gallop, New Mexico. When we were at the La Quinta Inn, Gallop, New Mexico, 12/6/11, there was an armed robbery about 1:00A.M. in the lobby. This property DOES NOT have security cameras. There are no security cameras at this location. There is only one person at the desk during the night shift. This particular night it was a young woman at desk. A gun was held to her face. Police could only take a report as there were no security cameras. I personally spoke on the phone to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager that same day about the incident. Not only are there NO security cameras but there are NO secure entrance doors at the frontand the person on duty, by direction of management, can not lock doors. Both of the managers stated they are

My family of 4 stayed a single night. We really had no problems with the place, it's nothing spectacular, but also not bad. I am somewhat of a germaphobe and travel with my own cleaning supplies, I didn't find the place overly unclean, but disinfected as I always do. We had a reservation and arrived late, around 11pm, hotel was booked but they held our room for us since we had called that afternoon and confirmed with them. We were traveling with our Bassett Hound and chose this hotel for that reason. We were put on the top floor with others with pets, I believe, so that we weren't bothering anyone in case of barking, I appreciated that.

This hotel is anything but pet friendly. Yes, they allow pets but there are signs up everywhere restricting where pets can go. To use the bath room there is only one small ""pet area"" which is full of brairs, one of which caused my dogs paw to bleed. This ""pet area"" is about 300 yards from the hotel across the parking lot. Very inconvienent for night trips outside. I will not stay here again. They say they are pet friendly however clearly they are not. Another problem was no wireless internet. Wireless has been standard everwhere else we have stayed.

Room smelled bad. They couldn't give me another room so they sent houskeeping with room deoderizer. She proceeded to saturate the carpet with spray even after I told her to stop. Next day mgr said he would discount the room but didn't know how and would credit it back later when someone came in to help him do it. He charged full price over my objections, promised to credit back $40, and then never did it. Had to sleep with the window open because the deodorizer smell was so strong. Very unpleasant experience especially since mgr lied about the credit.
