Front desk asked to use my credit card to check in on my prepaid online travel website reservation. I told them it was prepaid. Microwave & coffee/tea/chocolate machine are in lobby. Staff was friendly and provided excellent overall service. Maidservice was great. Kingsize bed was good; pillows were not that great. Hot spa was nice. Pool was too cold to use (November). Pool and spa could have been cleaner. Rooms were clean. Ice machines were close. About two dozen cable channels. Two chairs, one table, nightstand, dresser. Free local calls. Clock in bedroom. Lots of lights. Good AC. Security lights for parking (one was out--ours!). On second day, they made us move our car to the other side of the building to pave the street. We had to carry our luggage farther. They would not provide us another room away from the construction. The paving equipment was loud, vibrated the door, windows, and walls until 10 pm; it then resumed at 8:30 am! No compensation. We were not notified. We found out when the crews showed up. Do we need to ask hotels if there will be construction work? Should they have booked us in a room where they knew they would be doing this work? We booked almost a month in advance!

My family and I just returned from our first family trip to Busch Gardens. I am very big on relying on customer reviews. Although this location had a few mediocre to not so good reviews, I decided that the good reviews outweighed the bad. Because of the proximity to Busch Gardens and the price, I decided to take a chance.
Okay . . . as reflected by other patrons, this hotel is very close to the park. I'd dare say even walking distance. But, if you're going to "make-a-day" at the park I wouldn't recommend walking. What seems like a short distance in a car, can feel like walking the "green mile" after having walked in the park all day.
Anyway, back to the hotel . . .
there are lots of places to eat nearby, and we found the local people very friendly.
Now, the not so good . . . our room had a musty mildewy smell that permeated our luggage and came home with us. Also, the hotel is located in an area of town that's not so upscale. If you're not comfortable being "near the people" this place ain't for you. We had a couple of encounters, (both locations very close to the hotel) where we just missed being approached by people who were obviously going to ask for some type of assistance.
I got the feeling that some of the hotel guests are actually residence of the hotel. I gathered this opinion from observations made during our two hour rump in the very small pool. In all fairness, although the pool is small we had a good time. It was mostly clean (some typical debris from a lot of people swimming), and the jacuzzi was great!
So, I bet you're wondering how I came by the title? We'll, the bed that my husband and I shared had not one but TWO unopened CONDOMS (one under a pillow, and another farther down in the bed)! There was makeup on the underside of one of the pillows. It was obvious to us that no one had changed that linen since the previous guests.
I will say that the two young people covering the office that night were very professional, apologizing profusely. The young lady asked, "What can we do to make you happy?" Who asks that any more? We simply asked that linen to be changed. They obliged and changed both beds. Additionally, we were assured that the person responsible would be reprimanded.
When doing a run-through to make sure we weren't leaving anything, I found a pair of flip-flops, and a ball under the same bed where the condoms were found. You can make any conclusion you like from that!
Overall, our stay in Tampa was enjoyable. Would I stay at this location again? Certainly not. Not even with the alluring offer of complimentary birth control, flip-flops, and a ball -
