I read the previous reviews before booking and I have to agree, we had a great stay at the Marriott Residence Inn in Middletown. The hotel is new and well kept. Our room was clean with a kitchen, fridge, microwave, a plasma TV in the living area and a separate bedroon and bath. It worked out great for our family of 5. There was a nice indoor pool and a hot tub along with an outside all purpose court for basketball/tennis or ball playing. The hotel is located behind an Applebees and Hampton Inn so is quietly set off the road. There is also a supermarket and CVS within walking distance. Downtown Newport and the Mansions are no more than 10 minuetes away and a very easy drive. There was free WIFI and a full breakfast with make your own waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and cereal in the morning. The staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Would definatley return to this hotel if in the Newport area again.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Everything was very new, clean, and well taken care of. The staff was extremely friendly - even if we ran into them in the parking lot, they made sure to say hello and smile. There was a 40" flat screen TV which we loved and it was only about a 5 minute drive from the heart of Newport. There was a fridge, dishwasher and stove in each room and the continental breakfast (included) seemed more like a full breakfast to us! The only "problem" we had was initially locating the hotel - it is not on the main street and is located behind the Applebee's so we drove by it once when we were going to check in. You have to keep your eyes peeled for the sign! Overall, we had a great stay - we had stayed at a Hyatt Place on our way to Florida a few months ago and would say it was just as nice, if not nicer!

This is a wonderful hotel. With all the services. The breakfast is a buffet with make your own pancakes, bagels with cream cheese, eggs, bacon or sausage, fruit, etc. Excellent. We paid a lot for the room but were traveling so made no reservations beforehand. A few hotels in Middletown were not as nice and were the same price or higher than this one so we stayed at here. This is just outside of Newport and only a 5 or so minute drive to the city of Newport. The Newport Hotels are very expensive. So Middletown was very convenient to drive to and then back again into the city. We stayed at a Residence Inn 2 days out of 3 and are sold! (Forget the Hampton.) p.s. A hotel cleanliness is very important to me and I do tend to treat myself to a nice hotel while traveling. Residence Inn had a private bedroom, a kitchen, sofabed and plenty of room. Excellent all the way 'round.
