After spending 25 minutes trying to check in at the Front Desk, I went to my assigned room to find that the mattress and boxsprings were propped against the wall and the bed frame was in pieces, not to mention that the room was approximately 8 feet square. The second room I was assigned not only did not have an electrical outlet for the TV and cable box, there were no power cords for either. The third room I was assigned had a broken air conditioner and the windows don

I have traveled a lot and I would stay here again. I shared a room with my sister for 3 nights while working an event downtown. The rooms are small but it didn't matter to us as it was clean and the beds are comfortable which isn't always the case in a budget priced hotel. They have FREE continental breakfast :). It was pretty good too. There is a parking garage next door which charges $* for 24 hrs. This hotel has a historic charm. We didnt feel like we were staying at a budget hotel. Stayed here November 2010 for 3 nights.

The room my wife and I was much smaller than expected. She could not get out of bed without hitting her head on the TV on the wall. Maybe our room (1111) was the smallest room in the hotel, but it was not comfortable. The room had no extra toilet paper, no sugar or cream for the coffee, and was just not comfortable. On the upside, the price was reasonable, the location was good, and the hotel staff nice.

I deliberately chose this hotel because I didn't have a lot of money to spend on a one night hotel room I would basically only be sleeping in since I was in town for a two day event at the Staples Center and would be spending most of my time there. The hotel is very convenient to Staples and L.A. Live, within a few blocks. I felt safe walking alone, and the 24 hour IHOP across the street on the corner was also very convenient and made the area feel safe. That said, I wouldn't walk around this neighborhood alone really late at night - but I would say that about a lot of downtown areas in cities. The hotel is old (although the lobby is elegant), and the rooms are small, but the bathroom seemed fairly recently remodeled and was pristine clean. As described by other reviewers, the shower space is very narrow, however, since there is a shower curtain and not glass doors, it doesn't really matter how small the shower is because your arms can always push aside the shower curtain to accommodate them. There was plenty of hot water and everything worked well. The bed was fine and I slept well. I enjoyed the free breakfast that came with the room - make your own waffles, bagels and croissants, fresh fruit, yogurt, various dry cereals and various juices, etc. I had some issues with the room key (needed to have it re-keyed twice), but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I didn't have any problems with the elevator and it seemed speedy enough. If a Motel 6 type hotel is acceptable to you, then you will be satisfied with this hotel.

My group of 4 just stayed here for 2 nights in January 2010. We opted for the larger suite because it had a King bed and a large pull out sofa couch. Besides the sink and mirrors in the bathroom, there was a separate large vanity area that was perfect for everyone to get ready without being cramped. There was free internet which was another plus. The location is perfect if you are attending an event at the Staple Center as it is only a short walk. There is a parking lot directly next to the hotel that is very cheap (11 a night). There is also a great restaurant/bar down the street called the WOKCANO. I would definitely stay there again as it is VERY CHEAP! As a group of 4, it cost us about 60 dollars each for the 2 nights. CAN NOT BEAT THAT IN LA!
