First time to Cancun, went during spring break with wife and kids. Had a great time and never felt threatened, went out on the strip but never went into town. The resort staff was some of the best I have seen, and the resort was well kept. Lots of people tell you not to go because of the violence but I think if you just use your head and be smart, travel in multiples and don't get off the beaten path. I would give the resort a 4 out of 5 stars. I am not one that likes a real elaborate place anyway, would stay there again

The pools were clean I have never seen a pool boy get on his hands and knees and clean around the areas...The workers were always cleaning the deck so u wouldnt slip and fall. The buffet resturant was great they also had a a out door grill that grilled great burgers and hotdogs... We stayed in the royal tower..what a treat that was.....The Loose moose would stay again...

i don't know how this place can get poor reviews. After reading some reviews I was a little worried, but we got the package at a great price and thought it was worth the risk. The hotel was very clean, the landscaping and pool were beautiful. Our rooms were fine, the beds not too hard, and I loved the big surround bathtub, and mini bar service. I didn't drink the liquor that they stocked there. The buffets were great--I stuck mainly with the Mexican choices. The steakhouse was pretty good and the Asian restaurant really terrible! You do have to reserve a couple of days in advance for the steakhouse and early too. The guests were truly international--you hear more languages other than English--russian, Dutch, Spanish, etc. Our kids loved the swim up bar and the activities by the pool. We'd love to go back. Some workers friendly, others not.

This was a last minute trip booked 2 days before we went. I took my 22 year old daughter and I am in my 50's. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The housekeeper taking care of our junior suite was excellent, the balcony was incredible, huge, and we had a view of the sunset and the sunrise. The beach was one of the largest around and the hotel worked daily all day long to keep it as seaweed and debri free as possible. Many many chairs on the beach, pool is huge and the staff is there to please. Large vairety of food to choose from so any way of eating is covered. Can not wait to go back there. Thumbs up!

Before people who are reading this get scared by my title, I want to explain in detail. We are used to 4-5 star hotels. Granted according to Apple Vacations this is considered a 5 apple hotel, I find it to be anything but. The overall ambiance of this hotel in my opinion is about a 3 star hotel. When we entered the hotel, we felt as though we were treated like cattle, ordered to gather together with other travelers to go through the "welcoming instructions"(towel keys, locks, etc.) Our first impression was anything but personal and welcoming. The food was average to good; we were definitely over it by day 5. The rooms were extremely old and dated, definitely needs remodeling On a positive note, the hotel itself was immaculate, did not find dirt, dust, or hair anywhere in the room. Also the hotel staff was AMAZING! They truly made us feel welcome and even knew us by name after day 2. Granted this was not the type of hotel we usually stay at, we made the best out of the situation that we were faced with. We enjoyed sitting in the lobby enjoying the presence of our family and new friends, and of course drinks! TIPS: if you want full sun ALL day, get up early around 5 am and lay towels, hats or magazines on your chain to save them. Also bring your own conditioner, they do not supply it. The cups are VERY small, so bring your own thermal cup.All in all I enjoyed my vacation with my mother and sister, however next time we visit Cancan, we will not stay at Riu Caribe. Have fun!! = )
