South Beach hotels in general are over rated. Most 4 stars would be considered 3 or 21/2 in another city and you do not get what you are paying for. So, the RUI would be a 2 1/2 to 3 star property by standards outside SB. It offers a great location, just about 20 minutes by foot on the boardwalk to the art deco section and 15 minutes by foot to Lincoln or Espanola (shopping/restaurants) The hotel offers a great buffet breakfast for 14.00 or iincluded in some rates. There is a lovely private beach area. It also has direct beach and boardwalk access and a decent pool area with a pool bar. It caters to mostly Germans and other Europeans. The rooms are claen but very outdated. There is a construction site next door and it is not pretty. Those on that side of the hotel may be disappointed. But I like this hotel because you could not pay this price for an ocean view anywhere else and with such a wonderful breakfast included in the rate. The beach and boardwalk access are terific and I like to walk so I enjoyed the 20 minute walk after dinner. The downside is no wifi available in your room but it is free in the lobb, No extra amenities or 24 hour services. If you want modern or lots of amenities, this is not the place for you. As for hearing your neighbors or movement in the next room, welcome to the chatter of most hotels in South Beach!

Stayed here for 3 nights for 4th of July weekend. The room was ok outdated but has cold AC a must in Miami. The pool and grounds are beautiful. The hotel is oceanfront with access to the boardwalk. You do have to pay a beach vendor to rent chairs and beach umbrellas.The bartenders are great. They make strong drinks #40which are a little overpriced#41 but worth it because they dont skimp on the alcohol. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a quick ride to the airport and to the South Beach nightlife. I would recommend if coming to Miami to be out of the hotel room. Who goes to Miami to stay inside anyways?

We booked the hotel for the day we returned from a 9-day cruise and we were very pleased. The exceptional weather helped. Upon arriving at 10:30 in the morning with tons of luggage and 2 kids in tow, the staff worked hard to get us into a room quickly and hours before the 4pm checkin. The pool and beach access were great. The only dissappointment was in trying to get our airline boarding passes printed. Apparently the hotel's fax machine is broken and they rely on the vendor of the gift shop for this service which required paying to use a computer to then email the passes to him to be printed. The location on the beach and the public beach walking path was fantastic and it was easy to walk down to Lincoln Road and the outdoor eating spots.
