Nice hotel`Good value

Staff was willing to work with us on getting a non-smoking room for 3 nights. The suite was very good for us. Clean. 3 foot high fridge, MW, coffeepot with mugs, two tvs, queen sleeper sofa. Small table with 2 chairs. Basic double sink and shower/tub. They do offer microwaveable foods at the desk which is nice. The pool was small but adequate. There isn't A/C which is common in this area of WA and we didn't need it, even in July. When it warmed up, we just opened a window. Breakfast was better than anticipated (they said pastries and drinks). Coffee cake with cherries baked in was the highlight along with donuts and bagels and breads from a local bakery. They also had OJ, powdered cocoa and teas, cold water and coffee to drink. You grab a tray and take the breakfast to your room. You can see that as an inconvenience, but when you figure the hotel wasn't designed to have breakfast at all, you can see that they went out of their way to give their clients breakfast. They don't have a 'breakfast person' so you may have to wait for it to be stocked. Boiled eggs would've been a nice addition. Hotel is located in the center of long beach. Walking into town, the beach, or the nearby putt putt is easy. My one complaint was that the room wasn't cleaned while we were there. I had the 'do not disturb' sign up for about 20 minutes while i took a shower on one afternoon and about 2 minutes the 2nd day (morning), so that could just be very bad timing. But I kind of wonder if the maid just didn't have our room listed. She was definitely cleaning other rooms.

Exterior of the hotel and reception desk was dated and defintiely of the motel style. Reception desk consisted of a counter inside a small kiosk. Staff was friendly and helpful though, despite first impressions of the facility. All rooms have doors to the exterior, so may be a safety concern for some. Inside, the rooms were clean and well kept up. Nothing fancy, but clean, fairly new carpet and linens. Location is great, right in the heart of town. Continental breakfast was available at the front desk, but you'll have to take it to your room to eat (they do provide trays). Coffee (bad), orange juice (good), bagels and cream cheese, donuts, and coffeecake (fantastic) provided. Pool was outside in the parking lot inside a chain link fence, so didn't look that great. Pool itself was clean and warm though. Good enough for kids wanting to swim. No hot tub. Not much competition hotel-wise in Long Beach. None of the others looked much better.

Called to confirm, got helpful staff. Arrived, got helpful staff. Housekeeping left a note when they couldn't clean because I'd left "do not disturb" sign up; never seen THAT before! Nice touch.
Very clean, the room had a little seventies-style metal free-standing fireplace...The west side rooms face towards the ocean, although there is a half-mile of shrubs, then sand, before the water (you can't see it, but most places in that area are not right on the water). So the location was very close to ocean (a trail, or a short drive to parking at ocean boardwalk).
Location is RIGHT west of the prime downtown activities, restaurants etc. Barely drove, walked everywhere, to ocean, to dinner etc.
Overall a great deal, for summer at the beach. Weekend night in July, nice room with fireplace, good location etc for slightly more than $*. Bargain.
