I chose the hotel because I had a coupon for a discount and they accept small pets. We were perplexed at the smell of smoke in the room and found out when we checked out that the 4th floor was a floor that allowed smoking until a year ago. (We didn't notice the smell when we first checked in and didn't want to bother to change rooms later that evening.) They gave us some Lysol to spray the room for the odor. It did not seem that they had cleaned the carpets and curtains because it still smelled like cigarette smoke. There was mold in the tile grout. The A/C did not seem to work well. The fitness room had one treadmill, one eliptical and one bike. The bike was very poor quality and the treadmill was the same brand which I didn't use. I swam in the indoor pool briefly, but it was small and only large enough for treading water not laps. This hotel is close to the interstate but there are *lots* of choices in the area. The front desk staff was nice, but I would stay somewhere else given the ample choices in the area.

We stayed here during the Va State 4-H Horse Show - big mistake! The bathroom was full of mold and the floor hadn't been cleaned in years. Behind the door the molding looked as though it had never been wiped off. Behind the endtable was filthy (my pen dropped behind there - I decided to leave it instead for putting my hand in the pile of yuck). The boys found a large lego block on the floor. The toilet became clogged after the first flush - we were given a plunger and asked to take care of it ourselves - housekeeping wasn't available. I don't think we created the problem as urine doesn't clog a toilet. On the second day after leaving a maitenance request we arrived back in the room to find someone had used the toilet, had not flushed only put the seat down. The clorine smell from the pool was overpowering. After swimming for 5 minutes my sons eyes were bright red and burning. Obviously management and housekeeping are not doing their jobs. This hotel has some serious problems. On another note however, the ladies working in the breakfast area were very nice and were doing a good job keeping everything tidy and replenished. It is one of the closest hotels to the horse center so when showing it is very convenient.

What was once a nice hotel located very near the Virginia Horse Center has become a filthy hotel in great need of some serious cleaning! Upon exiting the elevator the smell of cigarette smoke was smothering - this is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. Then it took four rooms to find one that had been somewhat cleaned. In the first and second rooms our shower hadn't been cleaned in weeks! Mold and mildew were growing in the bath tub, and crud lined the tub. Human hairs were also pressent in the tubs. The third room smelled of mildew from a shower curtain which hadn't been laundered in months. The fourth room did have a cleaner bathroom so we kept it. However, a sticky drink had been spilled on one of the tables and housecleaning hadn't bothered to wipe it up. In addition the carpeting leading into the bathroom appears to have been shredded by a dog??? This is supposed to be a pet free hotel. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and never encountered any issues. Unfortunately, what was once a clean, tidy, comfortable hotel has become filthy due to lack of quality housekeeping. There is more to cleaning a hotel room then making a bed, wiping the mirror, and running the vaccuum. Bathtubs need to be cleaned and bathroom floors should be mopped! Although the staff at the front desk was very nice until the housekeeping staff is improved we find someplace else to stay.
