  Soniat House is the epitome of old French Quarter elegance. The exterior belies the sophistication inside. Beautiful rooms, extremely friendly and helpful staff, lovely courtyard. We were lucky enough to take advantage of the 50% summer rate. Paying less, I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a better room with a balcony. Despite the French Quarter location, Soniat House is in the quietest area. We never heard street traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed sipping wine on the balcony while the ceiling fan cooled the city heat. Warning - for cat allergies- a lovely elderly calico cat lives in the courtyard and will also nap on the balcony with you. She greeted us every time we returned to the hotel. It was a true New Orleans experience.
