I recently took my honey to NYC as a surprise for his New Years Eve birthday. It was also my first time visiting so I had nothing to off of. I choose this hotel based on the few pictures provided and the reviews of others. We could tell the hotel is old & someone has gone in to revamp the appearance. It looks nice. The staff was also friendly & polite. We gladly walked everywhere we had to go,the location was so convenient to everything. The rooms were a good size,nicely decorated,with very comfortable beds. Although I checked the list of hotels affected by bed bugs online, we throughly checked the mattress & sheets for any critters upon our arrival and none were in site. He slept like a baby, but I couldn't get completely comfy due to the thought. Neither of us could get comfortable in the bathroom. (We are weird like that! We just have this thing about bathrooms & kitchens) =) It smelled like old cigarettes which kept taking my breath away. We left the heat off since the room was already warm. It was also hot in the middle of the night each night we were there. We would awake & remove the covers & sleep that way for an hour or two. We will return but on the Tuscany side, that side may be the best side.

Let me start with this... I travel a lot, for business and pleasure. I used to work in the hospitality industry and I have worked in service industries for the last 15 years. Put simply, this was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in NYC. We (my wife and young child)arrived at the hotel after a tough day of travelling. From the person helping us with our bags to the front desk check-in, everyone was courteous and helpful. Sarah checked us in with a smile, recognized that we were exhaused and offered to upgrade us to a suite since the hotel was not full. The room was large, well maintained, ultra clean and very modern. We noticed that the heater seemed to be malfuntioning and they had someone up fixing it within 10 minutes (and it was user errror not a problem with the heater!)To sum it up, we had an exceptional customer experience.

I travel for business and pleasure and have stayed at 2-star inns to 5-star Four Seasons. This hotel was advertised as a 4-star property and was more like a 2.5-3 stars. The people were pleasant. The rooms seemed more like a glorified dorm. It was noisy and carpets somewhat worn. Roller blinds without any other window treatments like curtains gave it a sterile feel. The drain in the tub did not function well and caused the tub to fill 1/2 way when showering. Lastly the sofabed was confirmed for my child but we received no linens or pillows. If this was advertised as a 3-star hotel, it would have met expectations. If it was adverstised as a 2.5-star hotel, expectations would have been exceeded.

Stayed for 2 nights and the hotel was great. Friendly and efficient staff. The room was very nice and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. Room service was fast and the food was good.. Will def stay there again.
