I worked my and ay up the corperate ladder inthe hotel industry and wanted to stay away from the big name downtown hotels for some peace and quiet during this trip. When I arrived late friday night a noisy wedding rehersal dinner was breaking up. The night auditor was very understanding, and graciously informed the dinner guests that the hotel was busy and their respect for the other guests would be appreciated. The Night Auditor then booked me into a room " as far away from the action as possible ". Room - Clean , quiet, and air conditioner worked very well. Wake up call was right on time. I donot recall the Night Auditor's name, as he told me, well mannered, well groomed, well informed......the kind of employee you want on amy staff..

Stayed here one night. For $99 without breakfast, this was the dingiest, most run-down property I have ever experienced. The hallways were worn, paint scraped, furniture marred to bare wood. Holiday Inn touts a "pillow menu," but they were out of the ones I requested. The climate control consisted of a dirty and noisy window air conditioner that rumbled all night. Room was large, but bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned, TV was old, and the WiFi didn't work. Calls to the front desk yielded a promise to "reboot the modem." By midnight, I was sitting staring at a frozen screen as I tried to search for somewhere else to stay. In the morning, in spite of our "do not disturb" sign, the maids conversed loudly in the hallway and then one cleaned the adjacent rooms one-handed while talking loudly on her cellphone AND playing the room TV with the door open. By the way, this hotel's website says it is convenient to everything from Stanford University to Santa Cruz to the Gilroy outlet stores. DON'T BELIEVE IT! Map this location. It is about 35-45 minutes on the freeway from Stanford and not a short or easy drive from Santa Cruz. When I had asked at the desk for their lowest rate for one more night, they had quoted me $149 and told me if I wanted a lower rate, I could probably find one on the web myself. I checked out in the morning..
