Although the staff was pleasant. The room was by far the worst.Don't accept the handicap room EVER unless you must have it. My small hands didn't even fit under the faucet it had a cheap very small faucet.I don't see how anyone in a wheelchair would be able to wash thier hands. It took forever to get the hot water to come on in the shower due to poorly working faucet. You had to push in this button that wouldn't work,it took about 15 minutes to get it to function. The room was not secure it had a stick in the track to keep it from opening big joke since it would roll if you gently pushed the window.And room location is located before the lobby and you hear the obnoxious door bell ALL NIGHT LONG! as well as people coming in all night long.The pillows in this room were nice but that didn't matter when we couldn't sleep from the constant noise. I will try Super 8 again I will be more careful about my room location.

The room was clean, but the hotel could use some refurbishing. It looked a little old and worn. The lobby is super small, so I didn't bother with the complementary breakfast. There wasn't room, with all the people. I would stay there again because the price was right, and like I said it was clean, and that's what's most important. Also, it was quiet. I got a good night's sleep.

I've stayed at this property on many occasions when traveling to Carbondale for SIU alumni-related events (reunions, meetings, Homecomings, etc.). Yes, it's an economy property and so there are few amenities. However, the staff is friendly and attentive, the rooms are clean, and, as an SIU alumna, I receive a discounted rate. There's no riff-raff hanging around and, as far as I can tell, there are no long-term guests (residents) like you might find at other inexpensive properties. If you need a place just to lay your head for a night (or two or three), you can't go wrong here.
