We have stayed at this resort several times and are planning to stay again in March. It is far from five-star, so if you're looking for plush amenities, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you want a quiet, relaxing vacation among friendly guests and helpful staff this is a great value. The resort was recently purchased by Tropicana and is being rebranded with the Tropicana name. Some of the older reviews you may read may have been true at the time but probably don't apply now. The rooms are somewhat outdated, but spacious with full kitchenettes, a dining area, living room and balcony or patio, separate sleeping area and bath. You are a $* cab ride from the grocery story, so the kitchenette can come in hand and help save a few $$. It is less than a five-minute walk to the magnificent Eagle Beach - arguably Aruba's best beach. There is a bus stop within one block of the resort that will take you into Oranjestad or the high rise area for other activities. Bus fare is about $* per person round trip. There are a few dining options nearby, but you are within a $* cab ride of many of the best restaurants on the island. We've read some reviews that complained about a musty smell. This is not uncommon in Caribbean properties due to the high humidity levels. We had musty smells when we stayed at the Wyndham (now Westin) in 2004. We are perfectly content to stay at The Aruban/Tropicana. It's a great value and wonderful, relaxing vacation on the most beautiful island in the world! It's the people in Aruba and at this resort that make your stay different!
