The Inn's location is fantastic, but as a late October traveler Canandaigua Lake itself is not quite so appealing. Though we did not reserve a high end room,we were expecting something less motel-like. We had a double room which was pleasant, but the view of the parking lot and the noise that accompanied it from both vehicles and people was not. The bathroom was small and basic and did not even have a fan for ventilation or a separate vanity area. We had a great dinner at the hotel dining room with a table facing the lake. We ordered breakfast in our room the following morning. The food was fine, but they was nowhere for two people to eat comfortably. The desk had only a single chair and no room for two. We juggled plates sitting on the edge of the bed. A portable table or cart would have been welcome. The welcoming lobby with a cozy fire and the location led me to expect more than was delivered. I've emailed the Innwith my thoughts on our visit, but so farI have received no reply. I would return only in the summer season to enjoy the outdoor amenities.

I've been going to Canandaigua Lake for the past 10 years. It's a 5+ hour drive from Clifton, NJ but I would go tomorrow if I could. The best vacation I had was the year I left my husband home. He doesn't know how to relax. . . I do. All I need is an Adirondack chair, mug of coffee, a good book and my crochet. .sitting right outside my room on the lakefront. Walking distance to anything I need. MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD!!!
I'd like early check in time. We usually arrive around 9 or 10AM but have to wait for our room. So we hang out at Wegman's or around the lake.
Free coffee each morning . . . .enjoy it watching the sun come up!

Our 5 day stay at the Inn on the Lake was pleasant enough. Check-in was effortless, but the staff was not overly friendly. The location on Canandaigua Lake makes this the best stay in town. The staff just didn't seem to want to take the time to acknowledge guests with a smile. The rooms were motel-like with very small bathrooms. Small details, like dead flowers in planter boxes were noticeable-the difference between beautiful and sorry. The hotel just needs to pay attention to details & their guests!

Business and pleasure, when traveling with your dog - large or small- you couldn"t find a more friendly destination. Right on the lake, they had a large rawhide bone and large box of cookies for my shepherd, along with a thank you note for our stay with directions and advice on the best areas to walk our big baby. Sitting on our porch overlooking the courtyard with gazebo on the lake, the views were incredible! The staff were fantastic and loved all over our pup at every chance! A++++++++++++++++++
