The Landis is unique in that it shares the parking garage ($3 less a day) pool, spa, and fitness room with Cascadia next door. We were booked into Cascadia, but ""cruise critic"" members who live nearby told us to try Landis, and we were glad we did. True it is a little worn in appearance in places, and rooms need blackout curtains (sun comes early), but the pluses make it a goodvalue. The light breakfast is above average and according online only Landis and Cascadia offer one free in the downtown area. The pool was cool at first, yet nice for the kids, and stretching after touring all day. It is walking distance to the water taxi, shopping, and a variety of eating options. We are already planning our return, because three days was not long enough to see all there is to do. Our extended family group of five, three adults and two kids (one uses a wheelchair), were in their two bedroom unit. It was spacious witha dining, living room, and deck w/nice views. The full kitchen was very nice to fix things when we didn't want to go out. The key card to get anywhere was a bit of a nusiance, but it did make sure only guests could get above the lobby. There is only one person on at any time, but all in all we were happy. If you want more service and perhaps a little nicer food etc. go next door to Cascadia (used to be a Residence Inn). But you will pay for the extras, and we were glad to be at Landis, and spend the difference on other things.

This hotel has minimal staff. There's no one to help you with your luggage. When we were checking out at 7am, there was no one at the front desk - we only found the maintenance person; the desk clerk was delivering the daily paper to the rooms. Their shuttle is only available til 7pm, you have to book in advance and they'll only take you within downtown, won't pick you up. The staff isn't very knowledgable about travelling to different sites outside downtown - although they did try their best to help and find out. Our hotel room was spacious, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Rooms were clean but the sofa in the living room had holes with the stuffing sticking out in 2 places. Also, carpeting was vacuumed but looked in need of cleaning or possibly replacement. There were black stains on the rugs perhaps from something sticky that once reached it. The sheets were threadbare with small holes in them; they also had stains which appeared inkbase. Hotel is said to be in downtown Vancouver but seems to be on the borderline seedy area of downtown. There is a 7-11 across the street, we were able to walk down the street to ethnic restaurants and also able to walk several blocks the nicer area of downtown (Robson St) comprised of better shops and restaurants. We didn't feel safe walking outside the hotel after dark due to the people sitting on the sidewalks with signs asking for money & because of the police activity that kept us awake several times during the night. The breakfast area was quite nice, with variety - open from 7:30am -10am. We never used the fitness center/pool. Next time,I think I'd pay more to stay in a better hotel.

We had planned on renting two hotel rooms nearby but this place was perfect for us. My visiting relatives and their babies took the master bedroom and my son and I took the other. The kitchen with refrigerator and microwave was great for the baby bottles and food. There is a nice complimentary continental breakfast offered also. We found the indoor swimming pool to be a little cold but we loved the hot tub and fitness room. The location was great with a convenience store across the street for late night food runs. We will definately stay here again.
