WE booked this hotel thinking it would be very nice, but what we found was sub-standard customer service and a sub-par room. Our heater was broken, there was no ironing board in the hotel, our bed was a very uncomfortable, full sized bed, and the "mini bar" they promised was a tray of peanuts sitting on the counter.

We had several problems with this hotel. The 1st room they gave us was very small, had a very noisy air-condition and didn't have any windows! When we asked about changing rooms they moved us to a more spacy one, with windows, but this time the room had a strange pipe noise that was so annoying. Then we realized the toilet was not working properly. We called them the next morning to fix this and when we got back from the city in the night the same problem was there. So we spent our 2 nights in this hotel without a toilet...Finally, on our 2nd night the fire alarm went on at 7 am, keeping us awake for some time. I know NY is quite expensive but this hotel wasn't worth it's money in any way. Ah, there is also a nightclub in the hotel lobby so if you do decide to go there avoid the 1st 3-4 floors...

Smallest room I've ever stayed in...so small they could not even fit a closet in the room. A/C was not working well and neither was the hot water. The well picked furniture and colors do not make up for everything else.

The Marcel at Gramercy Hotel was a great deal. The location is only two blocks away from the 23rd street Metro stop and there was always a cab available on 3rd street next to the Hotel. The restaurant downstairs was a bit pricey for our budget but there was several restaurants, Delis and a grocery store within 3 blocks. The room itself was good, it did not have a dresser but the closet was big enough to store our clothes and 3 suitcases. The bathroom was really nice with good size shower. Local internet was free however I would not recommend the continental breakfast for *+tax for muffins, Bagels and coffee?! I would definitely return to this Hotel next time.

Hotel was clean and somewhat quiet. Small but definately comfortable. Make sure to get to the roof top and stretch out on a chaise lounge after a busy day of hitting the pavement. The bathrooms have no counter space what so ever. Be prepared to put everything on the floor. I missed having a luggage rack of any sort, so suitcases on the floor...Yuck! But, it was a great value and location could not have been better. Walked every where and make sure to go to Bistango restaurant for great Italian! Homemade ravioli, best caesar salad Ever! and Sangria to die for!!
