Hotel has a very convenient location to downtown Newport, but the roon was just okay and when we got there at 3 pm to check in we were told our room was not ready but would call. They are suppose to guarantee the room by 4pm but didn't call until 4:15. I think when they saw I booked through the travel website they gave what was left,next to the elevator.

Confirmed reservations apparently mean nothing to this hotel. Had printed copies of reservations and confirmation of two double bd balcony view room. Only to find that at check in they did not have a room available for us. Ended up with a king size bd and a rollaway. The manager gave us different stories as to what happened. The website claimed that this hotel had been renovated. Maybe it was 10 years ago, bathroom was old (fixtures had paint all over them) and the furniture had seen better days. The swimming pool was dirty and full of debris. After one swim we never returned. Expensive rate, not worth it. A good comment: The location is perfect right on the docks. The room was clean, old but clean.

The website doesn't brag about its seats on the wharf! The perfect, quiet place to rest your feet after a day walking the mansion tours. We had an ocean-side room and the breeze at night kept a perfect temp in the room; that and the view makes it worth the little extra cash. Get your money's worth by breakfasting at the Mariott just a short walk up the street. A minute more and you are at the Visitor's Center and on the trolley to the mansions. A great downtown area is right at the doorstep of the hotel. The location can't be beat. Just don't bother with the food.

Excellent location on the waterfront, close to restaurants and pubs, the front desk always ready to help you in your concerns. Definitely I come back and I recommend to anybody. The restaurant has live music and a pool table. Only a mile away from the mansions blvd.

02/27/2009Excellent location. older hotel with paper thin walls. restaurant on location was disappointing-fortunately there were plenty of others nearby to chose from. overpriced.
