If you're not bent on staying on the lake side of Canal Park (and it's literally only a 2 block walk to the water anyways), this is a great option for the price. The vibe is non-traditional, almost seemed swanky 40s/50s. Our room was actually in the middle of the hotel with no exterior walls or windows, and a huge (maybe 4 foot diameter) steam pipe running right through the middle of the room. Some people might find the decor obnoxious, but we thought it was kind of fun. Our room came standard with a kitchenette and a full-size refrigerator, and a good old-fashioned tube TV. The pool and hot tub were not extraordinary, but the room was large and it was nice. Breakfast was average/good quality with a satisfying variety. A fine solution for our 6 year old, though I didn't see many other kids there. The hotel is actually more in the "heart" of Canal Park, with immediate access to some great restaurants and a very short walk to the boardwalk and maritime museum.

The location is perfect. It's within walking distance of all the usual attractions, and because the water towers are on top of the building you can always see it from a distance, which helps if you get a bit turned around with your directions! :-) The room was huge, we had a nice kitchenette. The parking area was very close to the door. My 2 boys and I had a great experience there. I would definitely recommend it.

Perfect location in Duluth, with easy access to Canal Park and various restaurants. Our kids love the pool area and hot breakfast. The hotel has lots of character, but could use an update. Beds are very comfortable, and that is what matters.

Our family of 6 (four teenagers) just stayed in a King two bedroom suite. Wow! What unique ambiance in this renovated warehouse! Not the ordinary modern hotel. This one has character and history! The room was spacious and the two bathrooms were wonderful, no fighting for or timing of showers! The water was hot right away, towels were nice and fluffy. Having 3 TV's was also a very nice touch. The pool area was nice sized, though only had two tables. We walked a block to Canal Park, ate dinner and walked lakeside for a while. We felt very close to everything: coffee shops, restaurants, landmarks, novelty stores, the lake. The breakfast buffet was everything we wanted, hot and cold, and well stocked even with only a half hour left until it closed. We heard a dog barking only while we were in the hallway and could not hear it while in our room. The only negative thing we encountered was hearing the street noise in the morning, but it was time to get up anyway! Can't say enough about this hotel! The kids were the first to say..."We're staying here again!"
