We stayed here with a group, ten rooms altogether, and everyone enjoyed this historic hotel. The rooms were small but clean (some retrofitted to add bathroom fixtures), there were photos of the Van Gilder and historic Seward to study while waiting for the group to gather, and the beverages and continental breakfast met everyone's needs. The staff was friendly, efficient and very helpful. We will stay here again.

My family and I stayed overnight at the Van Gilder Hotel and were very pleased with our night/day there. Our room was small, but full of character and didn't have the normal "cookie cutter" feel of larger chain hotels. The walls are thin and we could hear someone snoring from across the hall but it didn't bother us much and just added to the old time feel of the hotel. We LOVED all of the Victorian touches; it felt like you had went through a time warp. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, the hotel was very clean, and the complimentary breakfast was great; you even get to eat it in a small little library/den! An overall GREAT experience!!!

This is a beautiful hotel, very old and nicely re-done. The staff was incredible and the rooms were very clean. The bathroom was a little on the small side, but overall a wonderful experience.
