We just got back from our family ski vacation, two nights of which were spent at The Village in Breckenridge. The location is awesome! With three kids all we had to do was walk across the plaza and we were at the ski school and the lift at the bottom of Peak 9. We also could walk to dinner both nights...directly across the street to Mi Casa and around the corner to The Breckenridge Brewery. However, sleeping here was miserable. Our room was super tiny, most of it was taken up by this huge console dresser with a little refrigerator in it. With all the ski gear there was little room to move around. They will store your skis for you in the lobby if you ask. The beds were very uncomfortable, even the kids' backs hurt from sleeping on them (and they'd sleep anywhere). To cap it off, there was a barking dog in the next room. We considered leaving after the first night and would have had the proximity for skiing not been so awesome. We were also told our vehicle would be parked in the secure garage below our room. We found it out in what appeared to be a public lot behind the buildings when we went to dinner.

The Village Hotel was so convenient. We walked to everything. Breckenridge is so beautiful! The rooms were comfortable and clean. We heard some street noise from the second floor. Not too bad. Didn't really hear anyone else in the hotel, except some traffic through the halls. We travel a lot so it wasn't as nice as some of the hotels we have stayed in, but really no complaints. The ski lift was right around the corner. We rented our skis accross the street which was more affordable. Everyone was super helpful. The ski school was great. Our 11 eleven year old was there one day and skiied confidently with us the next day. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The views are incredible. I thought it was expensive, but worth the convenience of having everything right there. We would definitely go back again.

We went to Breck for one night, checking into our Deluxe King Room at the Village Hotel. The forgiveable issue of a card key that did not work was the starting frustration. When we finally entered the room, a large piece of art (3 x 6 feet-ish) had fallen off the wall, causing one to have to step over it to enter. Glad it did not happen when we were opening the door. The Manager did respond quickly and put us in the condo section with a queen and small kitchen. Very nice view. The bed was lumpy and sagged in the middle, and the couch had hairs on it that weren't mine. The rugs in the elevator were dirty and stained. I was disappointed to have a coffee maker and no Starbucks coffee, as promised for the "room". Since I was upgraded to the condo, coffee was not offered. The decor was the most amazing exercise in interesting taste...outdated. The bathroom was indeed clean and newer, but not worth the price. The closest door appeared to have been kicked in at one time. Maybe ok for a bunch of college kids to crash, I imagine there have to be more updated, cleaner properties in Breck in this tougher economy.

Early season 2008 - 2009 snowboarding at Breckenridge. Hotel is great, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and flat panel televisions. Close to peak 9, so early season is not ski in/out, as they only open peak 9 with more snow(by thanksgiving). I will return here to this hotel, cool bar downstairs and close to everything.
