We lived in Napa for 20 years before moving to Arizona. We chose this "HOTEL" while visiting our grandchildren. First of all, this is NOT a hotel. It is a privately owned condo complex. It is not yet finished. You are located next to the very nive Meritage Hotel....but no one tells you this. You will pay a preminum price for ABSOLUTELY NO SERVICE! You have an entry door, which means if you get locked out you have no choice but to walk to the hotel and get a new key, since you cannot knock on the door so your spouse can answer. The consierge service in the hotel appeared acceptable. We did not need reservations as we had already arranged our own wine tastings. We were charged a $15 per day "resort fee"-- it appears this covered a daily newspaper, 2 soft drinks (we don't drink pepsi) and 2 bottles of water! I can buy my own for $4.----Keep it! Each day we told our maid when we were leaving and when we were coming back. During our 5 night stay, our room was only ready upon our return once -- and that was a day when we returned Very late (8 PM in the evening) after leaving a 10 AM! We will not consider this hotel option again! Much better accommodatiions are easily available. No One at this hotel was service orientec!!

We were disappointed with room features at Vino Bello. The Vino Bello King Suit with kitchenette was too compact, ugly sofa, very poor lighting from the bathroom to entire room. The T.V. is tucked between the kitchen area whichis not appealing. the room entry having double key entry is pointless. i'd pay extra to stay at the merritage plus you get the guest service/lobby. Vino Bello is away from that!

Great accomodations and friendly front desk but be careful about checking out DVDs. At the end of my stay I left the DVD in the room along with the room key. Apparently the DVD never made it back to the front desk a la housekeeping and now they are charging me $25.00 to replace it. This place is desperate to make an extra dime I guess with the bad economy but this is ridiculous. This ruined an otherwise wonderful anniversary stay.

Vino Bello is an excellent homebase for wine country touring. Room was fantastic: one BR condo suite, excellent furnishings and good bed. Blackout curtains. Two flat screen TV's, full kitchen with utensils, washer/dryer. Huge bathroom with squash court shower stall. Great place to come home to at night after touring. We spit our time between Napa, Sonoma, Tournville, Rutherford, Stag's Leap, Bodega Bay and St. Helena. Wasn't sure after seeing mixed reviews from earlier travellers but we would definitely come back to Vino Bello. Only service complaint was wake up calls: you blew it twice, guys .... need to smarten up the night clerk or people will miss flights and balloon rides! Hot coffee and lots of free newspapers (USA Today, SF Chronicle, Wall St., NY Times, local rag) front desk staff very polite, maids very nice, easy to avoid the bottom feeder timeshare people in the front lobby.
