My family (Hubby-47, me-40, guys-13 & 15) stayed at the Wingate before boarding our second Carnival Cruise on October 24, 2008. Our experience with this hotel was WAY above our expectations. When booking, we told them to expect very late arrival as we would be leaving central Indiana at 3:00 p.m. That usually causes problems even with the most upscale of hotes. Not here. The desk staff was ready, as was our room--no questions about why that late, etc. The room was very clean and ready for a sleepy family at 3:00 a.m. When hubby and I went down for the ""free"" breakfast about 9, it really was free and it was tasty--couldn't even find a tip jar. We had also asked for a reservation with the hotel shuttle to the cruise terminal. Again, the hotel came through. Shuttle took us and another group of four to the terminal in a very timely manner, even with the other group having great amounts of luggage. The greatest value offered by this hotel to cruise passengers is the parking privelege. We paid Wingate $50 to keep our car and pick us up after the cruise. If we'd paid Carnival, it would have been $75 and a very long hike. As we entered Customs after our vacation, we called the Wingate shuttle to pick us up. We waited a mere 10 minutes after exiting the terminal to get back on the shuttle. Both times the drivers were great ambassadors for both the Wingate and Mobile.
