MICHIGAN CITY — Doug Samuelson, the Michigan City Police Department K-9 officer, presented a letter to Common Council President Marc Espar at the conclusion of Tuesday night’s council meeting asking the city to reopen negotiations for raises for the Michigan City police and fire departments.

MICHIGAN CITY —- Five Michigan City firefighters and a La Porte County Emergency Medical Service paramedic were recognized for their part in attempting to save a life during a fatal accident near Indiana 212 and Tryon Road on Jan. 13.
