SUMMARY: Responsible for trafficking and coordinating all advertising and media activities. Prepares a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. In addition, this position is responsible for assisting in the creation of and being accountable to an annual marketing plan and budget in accordance with Harrahs guidelines and may have duties relating to advertising one or more Harrahs casino properties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Advertising Manager as follows:

Assist in the creation of an annual marketing plan and budget in accordance with Harrahs guidelines and Vice President of Marketing’s guidelines

Maintain a monthly reconciliation binder with separate categories each month for print, radio, TV, outdoor, direct mail, special event, promotion, and production insertion/job orders. Reconcile bills with insertion/job orders as they come in. Investigate and follow up on any variances. Submit correct bills and code for payment to accounts payable in accordance with Sheraton procedures to be established. Track & maintain renewals for all media related contracts.

Maintain a computerized monthly budget spreadsheet showing budget to actual in all marketing expense areas. Attach monthly variance/exception reports to each monthly spreadsheet as applicable. Communicate variances to Advertising Manager on a monthly basis or as requested.

Maintain two monthly binders; one for keeping copies of all Harrahs print advertising and publicity copies and one for keeping copies of all Harrahs competitor print advertising and publicity copies (including photos of outdoor advertising).

Maintain a cataloged tape library of all competitor electronic advertising and publicity.

Monitor and coordinate vendor activities from inception to completion including advertising agency(s), media, artists, printer(s), sign maker(s), and directing & composing scheduling of all media types, etc.

Ensure ads are approved by all necessary departments/individuals in accordance with Harrahs guidelines prior to releasing them for publication/airing/display. Must have strong written communications skills, specifically with copy writing and be extremely detail oriented. Proofreads, reviews and edits materials for accurate use of grammar and content. Strong communication and organizational skills and public speaking ability essential. Degree in Advertising, Marketing or related field preferred.

Monitor all Harrahs creative including logo and PMS color/typestyle consistency (in accordance with) Corporate guidelines.

Maintains/monitors the following: Monthly & brand image signage updates & inventory; monthly hotel information channel updates; outdoor & marquee schedule updates; print schedule updates; maintains printed collateral inventories; submits stories monthly for e-newsletter & employee newsletter; and other duties as needed.

Provide reports as requested including reach and frequency analysis, advertising effectiveness research, GRP/TRP, CPP, TSR, and Arbitron ratings/demographic analysis, competitiveness (ongoing), and solicit bids for creative needed.

Maintain confidentiality of information and agree to and sign the Harrahs confidentiality agreement.

Coordinate graphic design as needed for direct mail, fliers, tent cards, newsletters, and the like.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES/JOB DIMENSIONS:
Attendance, which may be modified by the Harrahs from time to time, is an essential function of the job and is required to successfully perform in this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. Represents Harrahs at various property events and meetings (internal & external).
