Supervises and coordinates the set-up, breakdown and service of groups booked into the Convention Center, with Group Sales, Entertainment and Food & Beverage Departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Oversees daily banquet functions, providing direction to the staff, responsible for service of meals, hors d’ oeuvres, drinks and other food and beverage items in guests’ suites and VIP rooms, arranges for provision of special services on request such as birthday cakes, special food or beverages, etc., communicates and coordinates corrective action, maintains proper inventories to flawlessly execute all aspects of job requirements, responsible for proper scheduling of labor, responsible for the accurate maintenance of time records to ensure that all cross- departmental labor is accounted for,suggested food items and set-ups. Suggests and plans menus and other services appropriate for each group, reconfirms negotiated items, room requirements and rates, with Group Sales, utilizes Delphi software to insure timely information is disseminated, schedules time and ensures all commitments for function set-ups, food & beverage set-ups, etc, are executed as scheduled, is present or available for questions or requests as necessary, during group functions, to ensure group’s satisfaction. Ensures that all facilities and services meet Harrah’s standards, confirms that all client audio-visual requirements are present and working and verifies billing for accuracy, reviews and verifies all charges and receipts for group functions and coordinates billings with business office, group sales, and group representatives upon function completion, as appropriate, documents all customer complaints and comments. Follows up with related departments on simple issues; and notifies appropriate parties for immediate action to resolve major or complicated issues, daily display FOCUS and Harrah’s Service Cycle, maintains the required confidential nature of material being handled, maintains compliance with local fire and health regulations, and maintains knowledge of emergency procedures enabling the issuance of instructions to employees and guests if necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
high school diploma/G.E.D. required, hospitality degree preferred, 3 years experience in hospitality industry with emphasis on banquet services, 2 years proven supervisory experience, knowledge of food preparation and presentation, willing to learn and be adaptable, documented teamwork behaviors and attitudes, professional appearance and grooming, proficient various office machines, including but not limited to computer date terminals, Delphi, calculators, copiers, fax machines and word processing software, ability to relate to others and to explain and promote Harrah’s Cherokee Casino group sales, must attend to multiple tasks simultaneously, exhibits strong people and organizational skills, with Attention to detail/Observant, must be able to work flexible schedule based upon Convention Center needs, documented excellent leadership, motivational, and communication skills, physically mobile with reasonable accommodations, respond to visual and aural cues, read, write, speak and understand English, able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, grip and carry sometimes-heavy items, exposure to secondhand smoke.
