MUSKEGON — The Muskegon County Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved placing a question on the Nov. 4 ballot asking residents for their opinions about allowing a casino to operate in the county.

Two weeks after a divided Fruitport Township Board narrowly approved a resolution of support for the development of a casino, trustees revisited the issue Monday and "unified."

The president of Muskegon's Chamber of Commerce said she did not mean to offend anyone when she expressed concern about a proposed American-Indian casino attracting organized crime that threatens the area's "small-town values" and operators playing by different rules than other businesses.
