Wrapping up its plans to dispose of unwanted or extra branches, First Niagara Financial Group said Friday that it plans to close 35 overlapping offices in upstate New York and Connecticut -- including eight in the Buffalo region -- after it buys HSBC Bank USA's branch network.

BUFFALO, NY - The Erie County Sheriff's Office says they're used to dealing with motorists who may have had their driver's license suspended once or twice. But Thursday night, a deputy pulled a Buffalo man over who they say has had his license was suspended and revoked 18 different times.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - First Niagara Bank expects its $1 billion purchase of HSBC Bank's upstate New York branches to be completed by mid-May and is making plans to consolidate 35 locations where First Niagara and HSBC have buildings within a mile or two of each other.

Buffalo Grove trustees say they don't believe the village would be getting into the gambling business if they permit and off-track betting facility in the Village Bar & Grill, located on the municipal campus that also houses the town's village hall and police station.

A man woke up Friday morning to five intruders, who beat and robbed him inside his South Buffalo apartment. The Southside Parkway man told police he was asleep in his bed, when he felt someone reaching into his pockets at around 2:20 a.m., according to police reports.
