News on Thailand's possible lottery and maybe even casinos?! How long could this last? Talks are underway as Samak Sindaravej announces plans to legalize gambling and to build five
casinos in Chuang Mai, Khon Kaen, Phuket, Hat Yai and Pattaya.
An update on casino legislation in Taiwan - "if" it could be legalized, would Taiwan be a possible threat to Macau's gaming industry? Some leading analyst say Taiwan has the stuff to surpass Macau if legalized.
News from the United States gaming scene:
Florida has been quite active once again, legalizing Vegas style slots in the indian reservation casinos (in return for a little more green).
Kentucky casino gambling bill is as good as dead until 2010 many fear. Unfortunately this bill has been hammered.
CityCenter Las Vegas keeps progressing - now will include huge Art exhibit and "green" design. For those wanting premium real estate in Las Vegas, this might be the place.
Crown Casinos is making moves and in the United States purchasing a small stake in Harrah's Entertainment. (HET)
The Ho Chunk tribe plans a new casino in Wisconsin.
Atlantic City, New Jersey seems to be making it's way out of a long slump with gaming revenues finally on the rise again -- ok, 1.5% isn't much, but it's a lot better than going the other way!
Also last month a Cleveland
based group, MyOhioNow, disclosed plans and drawings for a multi-million dollar
casino off Interstate 71 and State Route 73 in Wilmington, Ohio.
Europe:
For those living under a rock, the U.K. Super Casino is a flop, Gordon Brown denied it permission to be built. Only chance now is if he does not win re-election. So instead of the Super Casino(s), 8 smaller casinos and 8 medium sized casinos will be built around the U.K.
Also as you may (or may not) know the construction work of 2 luxury
hotels and 2 casinos started in March in West-Hungary, at the area of the
Hungarian border with Austria and Slovakia, in a town called Bezenye. Eurovegas
Hungary Zrt. company spends 700 million Euros for this project. The construction
will finish latest in 2010, but part of the complex will start operating much
earlier.
