Welcome to our August 2007 newsletter. In this edition our
contributors are going to take you to different destinations around the globe
where they live or have previously worked.
Bernie will be informing all our subscribers of major
advancements at WCD. Steve Hand and some his associates at Scarab have been
helping Bernie update the directory region by region.
There is another humorous look at the gaming world from
Solna Leisure’s Jim Wrethman. In his latest article Jim takes a look at the
effect shareholders, accountants, and superstitious management can have when
the casino goes through a run of bad luck, however short.
Randy Steed has joined Matrix Media to host their new
"Casino Talk Radio" Randy will tell us a little bit more here about
the project. Randy has already approached some of the World Gaming Alliance
contributors to be interviewed on a regular basis.
Antonia Stoian of Vladydamas tells a little more about
gaming in her home country of Romania.
She explains the rise again of casinos since 1991, after the fall of communism,
and how there may be dark clouds on the horizon as the authorities wish to
drastically reduce the number of casinos in Bucharest.
Colin Stewart, Casino Marketing & Design, explains how
he mobile marketing can help casinos in various countries, especially the U.K. 3% of the UK
population have entered a casino. Mobile marketing already has been working
with nightclubs so why not casinos?
Much has
changed in Suriname
since Mike Somers worked there as a consultant and our September newsletter
will have an in depth look at Latin American casinos. In our July issue Mike
remembers his time down there last year.
Steve Hand worked in the Bahamas for many years in the 70's and 80's and not much changed, but over the last year there have been many new developments and Steve covers the highlights.
A European casino tour covering the nearly 50 countries that
have legalized casino gambling may seem like an enormous task but Scarab have
now enlisted the help of 11 industry experts from all over Europe
to start the tour at the end of the year. There will be extensive media
coverage and poker tournaments throughout the tour.
We also welcome our latest contributor Mario Ingretolli. Mario is presently in Malta and like many of our other contributors has worked all over the world. This month Mario gives us the latest news from Malta and we look forward to next month when he will tell us about his time as a casino owner in Kenya.
