Three groups hoping to expand gambling in Nebraska have raised more than $1.2 million for the signature-gathering process with help from out-of-state donors.
Boyd Gaming, which owns a number of casinos, provided the groups with most of the money. According to reports filed with the state, Boyd gave about $755,000 to a proposal that allows casinos in each of Nebraska's congressional districts.
Three Nebraska American Indian tribes raised about $291,000 cooperating on a single-casino proposal. Most of the money came from an Arizona tribe, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
A spokesman says that Keno operators in the state who want to offer customers video keno machines raised about $160,000 by the end of May. |
