Gambling News from http://www.goupstate.com/ A Spartanburg man and nine of his colleagues from the Upstate are sharing in a $1 million prize after a match five win in Wednesday's Powerball drawing, according to a news statement from the S.C. Education Lottery. Thomas Whitt and his fellow "dispatchers" chose Wednesday's white numbers as 4, 10, 20, 26 and 40, according to the news statement. The Powerball was 8 and the PowerPlay was 5. The Lottery game rules state that in order to win the match 5 cash prize of $200,000, a player must guess all five of the white balls. The group paid an extra dollar to play the PowerPlay option -- multiplying the non-jackpot by the number chosen and elevating the prize to $1million. Efforts to locate Whitt for comment proved unsuccessful Friday night. Officials at 911 communications offices in several Upstate counties said they were unaware of any dispatchers winning a jackpot, and a lottery spokeswoman did not return calls seeking elaboration on the winners or their occupations.
