THE CHING ching of slot machines seemed to have a special ring to it on Saturday as the proprietors of the Acropolis Gaming Suite celebrated its first anniversary.
The loyal gamers and some new faces came to the swanky Barbican Centre locale to celebrate. But apart from those who came to win some money, the major part of the evening was a cabaret show featuring Lukie D, Thriller U, Singing Melody and Tony Curtis, who combine to give you the quartet L.U.S.T.
They had the audience at the Ambrosia Restaurant intrigued from the second they entered doing the spiritual Let It Be. They soon got into a lover's rock mode doing such hits as Toni Braxton's Love Shoulda Brought You Home and Let It Go.

Interspersed with their harmonising, the group tried their hand at a little comedy; ribbing each other and doing impersonations, including a couple of our neighbours from the eastern Caribbean.
Showing their versatility the four musketeers delivered songs from their personal catalogues on any rhythm, any track, and at times a cappella with all four taking the lead at some point. It was all about love for the evening; especially the love for the ladies. A Lukie D-led version of Put That Woman First and Singing Melody's Say What? were among those selections.
After a 20-minute break, the tempo escalated with Tony Curtis' rendition of Faith among the tunes to get you moving. But the lighting went low and the blokes got all sentimental again with arias such as You Were Always On My Mind. The crowd, now totally into it, joined in on I'm Never Gonna Fall In Love Again. They were definitely worth the price of admission.
Throughout the evening, while the guests were thrilling the audience with their voices, others were just content to try and win some money at the machines.
