PokerRoom.com Sends More Than 60 Competitors to WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas
NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 17, 2006 -- Robin Tunney, who plays attorney Veronica Donovan on the hit show "Prison Break" and will be seen in the upcoming Focus Features film "Hollywoodland" in theaters September 8, has become the latest member to join Team PokerRoom.com, a group of over 100 up-and-coming poker players who represent PokerRoom.com in some of the world's foremost poker tournaments. Tunney earned her spot on the team as well as the $10,500 buy-in for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event when she won the PokerRoom.com Celebrity Poker Showdown to benefit YouthAIDS last month in California.
Throughout the year, PokerRoom.com players duke it out online for available team spots at major land-based tournaments through online qualifying matches. Team PokerRoom.com encourages healthy competition between members but its mission is to provide a forum for players to build friendships and learn from each other as they compare strategies and experiences.
With the addition of Tunney, the team is ready to take on the more than 7,000 players scheduled to play at the World Series of Poker Main Event, scheduled for July 28 - August 10, 2006, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Each WSOP spot is worth $13,500 and includes travel, hotel, tournament entry fee and special activities with the rest of Team PokerRoom.com.
