Johnson, Internet News Producer Plans for proposed Ione tribe casino in Plymouth Amador County is going to federal court to stop a proposed Indian casino in Plymouth. It's the latest round in a four-year fight to stop the Ione Band of Miwok Indians from building on 220 acres at the edge of town. Last fall, the U.S. Department of the Interior ruled the Ione Band was a "restored" tribe, thus clearing a path for the Ione band to develop the land with casino gambling. The county's lawsuit argues the way the Bureau of Indian Affairs determines tribal status is arbitrary and unlawful.
