AMERICAN FREEDOM FLIES TO GREY GHOST VICTORY ON HALLOWEEN

In a dappled dash to the wire, American Freedom took the annual Grey Ghost Handicap by a bob of the head over Chameleon on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.

A Halloween tradition, the $35,000 Grey Ghost is a starter handicap reserved strictly for horses registered as grey or roan in color.

Ridden by Stewart Elliott, American Freedom found room to his outside in the stretch and got up in the final strides to win the 1 1/16 miles turf event in 1:45.1. Sent off the 3-2 favorite, he paid $5 to win.
Freedom Acres, Inc.’s American Freedom, trained by Jamie Woodington, is two-for-two at the Meadowlands this season. Lifetime, the 9-year-old gelding has won 15 of 58 starts and $600,000.
