The Oaks have deep roots that go back to 1945 when the Oak Ridge Quartet played the Grand Ol’ Opry, performing good old southern gospel. In the Sixties, Allen and William Lee Golden joined the group, while Bonsall and Sterban signed on in the Seventies when the group began to crossover from a gospel-oriented group into a country and pop sound. The Oaks also began to record with other artists like Paul Simon (“Slip Slidin’ Away”), the late Johnny Cash, George Jones and Billy Ray Cyrus. But it’s the live show that remains the heart and soul of what the Oaks do best, lighting up a stage with their energy and delighting audiences with favorites like “American Made” and “Y’all Come Back Saloon.”
