BIOGRAPHY
The legacy of Pure Prairie League goes back to 1969 in Southern Ohio, when the band was “discovered” in a Cleveland club by an RCA scout. Although Pure Prairie League’s first album garnered some... After a short hiatus, Pure Prairie League went back in the studio in 1975 and released Two Lane Highway, an album celebrated by critics and fans alike, featuring guest artists Chet Atkins on guitar and the pure, sweet vocals of Emmylou Harris, in addition to its own superb lineup. In 1978, Vince Gill joined the band -- before he was a country superstar -- along with saxophone player David Sanborn and guitarist Patrick Bolen. The band released Can’t Hold Back, followed by PPL’s most successful album, Firin’ Up, featuring the ballad “Let Me Love You Tonight”, a single that scored the #7 spot on the Pop Charts and crowned the Adult Contemporary Charts at #1. Today, original member Craig Fuller -- the gifted songwriter who penned “Amie” -- is back, along with charismatic bass player Mike Reilly, Rick Schell on drums and guitarist Curtis Wright. Pure Prairie League’s longevity is testament to the timelessness of the band’s music – a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll -- and the same tight harmonies, pure melodies and driving energy that has created a faithful following for over three decades. Like the song says, Pure Prairie League is “Still Right Here in My Heart.” |
