BIOGRAPHY
During the 1960’s, Paul Revere & The Raiders sold records in astonishing numbers, second only to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. The charismatic band mixed fast-paced Beach Boys rock & roll with the... They sounded different and they looked different. Dressed in revolutionary war style outfits and camping it up on stage, the band’s antics brought a sense of fun to rock ‘n roll. Just like Us, released in 1966, was a landmark record, filled with great songs and performances. The LP went gold and it’s single, “Just like Me,” made it into the top 20. The Spirit of ’67 was recorded in the vein of the Beatles’ Revolver album with skillful orchestration and psychedelic note bending and the band released one hit single after another with “Kicks,” “Hungry,” “Good Thing” and “Him or Me – What’s it Gonna Be.” Throughout decades of writing, recording and performing, the group kept its edge, creating top flight pop-rock on albums like Hard ‘n Heavy and singles like “Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon” and even getting into a more serious mood with the single “Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian”). “Indian Reservation” went to number one, the first chart-topper of the group’s career. Today, the group performs with as much attitude and energy as ever, making good old rock ‘n roll as much fun as it can be. |
